Since January 2002 all Lamps and Tubes of all sizes contains mercury & sodium are now included on the EU/Uk waste catalogue, Listed under the “Hazardous” category? Lamps are now controlled waste, and as such under the environment protection, “Duty of Care”, business and schools, can no longer put these lamps in their general waste bins or skips. They can only be collected and removed by a licensed handler and removed to a recycling facility authorised to take hazardous waste.

The rules were revised in 2003 by the Environmental office; the introduction of the Uk waste regulations Act has seen lamps and tubes being given special waste classification. The government have reclassified all UK landfill sites to make it harder to dispose of the lamps and tubes, the only solution is to recycle the lamps and meet all current and legislation. To comply with all legislation and with the “weee” (waste electrical & electronic equipment) directive, A+ electrical contractor’s ltd are able to offer the following services:-

A full lamp collection service, we can deliver a plastic tube to your premises for safe storage of florescent tubes, When full simply call the number on the tube for collection and we will provide you with “duty of care” and proof of recycling documents. We will then leave you another empty container ready for use.
